Another COVID-19 death reported in Windsor-Essex region

A man in his 70s is the latest person in Windsor-Essex to lose his life due to complications related to COVID-19.

The region has recorded a total of 16,625 cases and 428 deaths since the pandemic began.

The Windsor Essex Health Unit reported an additional 17 cases of the virus on Saturday, which is slightly up from the 16 new cases reported on Friday, for a total of 163 active cases. A total of 16,034 cases have been resolved.

There are currently 18 people infected with the virus who have been hospitalized. There are also five workplace outbreaks in the region, along with one community outbreak.

As of Friday, 72.2 per cent of adults in the community have been partially vaccinated and 10.5 per cent have received both doses. On average, there are around 4,000 doses of vaccines administered daily in the community.
