Harassment reported at Gordie Howe bridge construction site

Officials with the Gordie Howe International Bridge say they reported “an incident of racially motivated harassment” at the Canadian construction site to the Windsor Police Service.

The company said the incident was reported by workers and they immediately contacted the police.

“Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority and Bridging North America are committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and diverse workplace. Racism, discrimination, harassment or violence are not tolerated in our offices or on our construction sites and we take all reports of such incidents seriously and respond with swift action,” said a statement signed by CEO of Bridging North America Michael Hatchell and CEO of Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority Bryce Phillips.

No further details about the incident have been shared as the investigation is ongoing.
