Essex planning outdoor concert series for this summer

You don't have to be on a mission from God, but the Town of Essex hopes local performers will get their bands back together and take part in this year's Tune Up the Parks Concert Series.

The town's Arts, Culture and Tourism Committee is looking for local musicians to perform weekly in its public parks. The series runs from July to September.

Last year, the event was virtual because of public health restrictions, but the committee says in-person concerts are tentatively scheduled this year.

"Our committee is optimistic that these open-air concerts can be a first step towards normalcy for our community and the performers," said Chair Tony Paniccia. "As always, we'll follow the current restrictions to keep people safe, and we're prepared to make the switch back to online performances if needed."

Local performers interested in being added to the series lineup can email [email protected] or fill out an online form.

This will be Tune Up the Parks' seventh year.
