Crews investigate suspicious fire on Peter Street

The Windsor Fire Department has deemed a structure fire in the city's west end as suspicious.

Firefighters say they were called to a vacant home on Peter Street near South Street sometime around noon Friday after a fire erupted. Crews successfully had the fire out within the hour, but stayed on scene for several hours after to douse some hot spots.

An excavator was brought in to assist with an overhaul of the home. No one was hurt during the incident.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. The fire caused damage to both the home and a detached garage.

Damage estimates are pegged at $100,000.
