Belle River man charged in Amherstburg break-and-enter

Windsor police's Amherstburg detachment has arrested a man in connection with a burglary.

An officer was patrolling in the area of North Side Road and Front Road North at around 9:30 a.m. Friday when they spotted an unoccupied black Dodge Caravan parked on the side of the road.

Fresh footprints were discovered in the mud, leading from the vehicle to a structure located on a residential property, according to Constable Darius Goze. The officer then noticed that someone had pried open a door on that structure.

A man was soon discovered inside the building and was taken into custody.

The 30-year-old man from Belle River, whose name has not been released, is charged with break-and-enter to commit theft and possession of break-and-enter tools. The charges have not been proven in court.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor police Amherstburg Criminal Investigations Unit at (519) 736-8559, ext. 230. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
