Provincial police officers in Tecumseh charged two people from Brampton after they found a large amount of cannabis-infused products in their vehicle.
Around 6 a.m. Thursday, the car was stopped on Highway 401 westbound for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was then arrested when police discovered he was in contravention of a condition of a release order.
Police then searched the vehicle and found a large amount of illicit cannabis. The products were packaged to resemble candy and food products.
Officers then arrested the passenger.
"The illegal transportation, distribution and sale of illicit cannabis products by criminal entities continue to remain prevalent in our communities. The illicit manufacturing and packaging of cannabis-infused products disguised to resemble what children may regard as candy or beverages is even more concerning as the dangers it presents to everyone, particularly our youth," said Inspector Glenn Miller.
David Rodrigues, 33, and Kingsley Mariott, 37, are facing multiple charges in relation to possessing, producing, selling and distributing illicit cannabis.
