A fourth mass vaccination site in Windsor-Essex opens on Monday.
The site at the University of Windsor Windsor Hall located on Ferry Street in downtown Windsor is being operated by Windsor Regional Hospital.
It will start vaccinating around 200 individuals a day, but that will be ramped up to 350 shortly. Eventually, the site could vaccinate around 1,000-1,500 a day when there is enough vaccine supply.
The vaccine clinic will target those in the 80-plus population, as well as those identified by their primary care physicians as being in the highest or high-risk category according to the province's vaccine prioritization plan.
The names of those individuals have been provided to the hospital by the primary care physicians and they will be called to book an appointment.
Individuals arriving at the clinic are asked to wear a mask and bring their health cards.
City of Windsor staff will be on hand to assist anyone who needs it from their car into the facility while their care-giver parks. Free parking will be available in the parking garage or at street level.
The St. Clair College SportsPlex vaccination site, also operated by Windsor Regional Hospital, is currently vaccinating around 850 individuals a day. The same target group is being vaccinated at that site.
