UPDATE: Four teens arrested in school bus fire investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington say four teens have been arrested after a parked school bus was set on fire early Thursday morning.

OPP and Leamington Fire Services were called to the area of Seacliff Drive and Erie Street South around 5:20 a.m. Thursday where multiple school buses were parked.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and investigators later determined the blaze was intentionally set.

Two school buses were destroyed as a result of the blaze and four others were damaged.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, but many students in Leamington and Kingsville had to arrange for alternative transportation to school Thursday morning because of the blaze.

On Friday evening, investigators confirmed that four youths between the ages of 13-16 have been arrested and charged with arson and mischief under $5,000.

The teens, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous callers can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous online message at www.catchcrooks.com.
