The latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey suggests opportunity awaits Windsor job seekers in the second quarter of 2021.
"Survey data reveals that five per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter, while none anticipate cutbacks," said Manpower's Natasha Djukic. She described the environment as "conservative."
Another 86 per cent of businesses plan do not plan to hire or fire, and nine per cent were unsure.
Job numbers for February are expected on Friday when Statistics Canada releases its Labour Market Survey for February. January's report said 700 jobs were added to the local economy, accounting for an unemployment rate of 10.3 per cent.
According to Manpower's report, those looking for work will have opportunities in all ten sectors. Among those noted are manufacturing non-durables, public administration, transportation and public utilities, finance, and wholesale and retail trade. The strongest outlook is for manufacturing non-durables.
"With widespread COVID-19 vaccination on the horizon, employers appear to be cautiously optimistic," said Country Manager Darlene Minatel.
The Manpowergroup surveyed more than 1,300 employers across Canada.
