Windsor Police hope someone has information that can help their investigation into a hate-motivated crime earlier this week at W.E. Trans Support.
Investigators ask anyone with security cameras in the area of Tecumseh Road East between Moy Avenue and Gladstone Avenue to check their footage after someone spray-painted swastikas and anti-LGBTQ slurs on the building.
The Morality Unit believes the vandal or vandals struck between 6 p.m. Friday, February 12 and 2 p.m. Monday, February 15.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4343. Tips can also be phoned into Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
“The Windsor Police Service denounces all criminal acts, especially those that promote hatred toward anyone,” read a release from Windsor Police. “Hate crime has a harmful impact on the community. Not only does it cause emotional trauma to the victim, it results in serious friction between different groups in our society.”
On Monday, Windsor Essex Transgender and Allied Support Executive Director Alexander Reid told BlackburnNews.com the incident was shocking and disappointing.
“It definitely shows there is a need for our work still in Windsor-Essex,” said Reid, who discovered the graffiti and cleaned it up.
