Windsor firefighters battle two Friday house fires

Windsor Fire and Rescue was kept busy on opposite sides of the city Friday afternoon.

Crews responded to the first fire shortly before 4 p.m. on Tourangeau Road near St. Julien Street. The fire was declared out about an hour later.

There were no injuries reported but two people were displaced. The fire was declared an accident, and confined to the chimney area with a damage estimate of $70,000.

Soon after the first fire was reported, another one broke out at a home on Campbell Avenue off Wyandotte Street West.

That fire was soon brought under control, but Windsor Fire reported that a dog had died and one man was treated for smoke inhalation.
