Windsor man spins his way to $1M

A scratch-off ticket led to a trip to Toronto and a million-dollar prize for a Windsor restaurant owner.

Saban Arayan was invited to the OLG Prize Centre to spin its big wheel, and it landed on the $1-million grand prize.

The 49-year-old, when he found out he was going to the Prize Centre to win at least $500,000 with "The Bigger Spin", went back to his restaurant to share the news with his wife.

"I gave her a big hug and said, ‘God blessed me with you 29 years ago and now I will bless you with my lottery win,'" said Arayan.

Arayan purchased his winning scratch-off ticket at a convenience store on Howard Avenue in Windsor. He scratched it off and found he had won a "Spin" opportunity. He returned the ticket to the store for validation and spun the animated wheel on the store's OLG terminal, for a guaranteed prize of at least $10. The wheel landed on "Bigger Spin" and he was invited to the Prize Centre.

The new millionaire has big plans for his winnings.

"I am excited to surprise my family with some gifts and will use some of my winnings to pay down my mortgage and maybe buy a new car," said Arayan. "Then I’ll save some for a nice vacation when the pandemic has ended."
