WRH adjusts COVID-19 assessment hours, urges people to call ahead if they cancel

Experiencing a continued high demand for COVID-19 testing, Windsor Regional Hospital will keep its Met Campus COVID-19 assessment centre open seven days a week starting Monday.

The hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to match the hours at the Ouellette Campus centre.

"With the extended hours, we anticipate that some same-day and next-day appointments will be available," read a release from the hospital.

Appointments can be booked online. Select a certain date and time for your appointment, or "first available time." The hospital also said your health card will be needed for booking.

Alternately, residents can also book an appointment at Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington. Appointments also can be booked online there. The assessment centre in Leamington is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.

Windsor Regional Hospital said there are also some people booking appointments, but not showing up for them. It means some appointments have been left open. If you need to cancel, it asks that you call 519-973-4443 Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

First Nations, Metis, Inuit and their families can book an appointment at the Soutwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre in Windsor at 1405 Tecumseh Road West by calling 519-916-1755.

For those not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, there is also the option of scheduling a visit at participating pharmacies. Three Shoppers Drug Marts in Windsor are offering testing.
