Two face impaired driving and drug charges after complaint to the OPP

Two LaSalle residents face charges after a complaint about a driver on Hwy. 401 Wednesday morning.

The Ontario Provincial Police found the suspect vehicle at a home on Main Street in Comber.

They suspected the driver and a passenger referred to the in the complaint were impaired, so they took them to the Lakeshore OPP detachment for further evaluation.

They also found some drugs.

30-year-old Bryan Chevalier of LaSalle faces three offences under the Highway Traffic Act, along with a charge of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, possession of counterfeit currency, possession of property obtained by crime, and drug possession charges.

Amanda Struhar, 28, of LaSalle is charged with possessing methamphetamine, and possession of property obtained by crime charges. She also faces a count under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The charges have not been proven in court, but the two are scheduled for a count appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on January 19.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
