COVID-19 has claimed the lives of four more Windsor-Essex residents.
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported the deaths Tuesday morning along with an additional 213 cases.
Three men in their 70s and one man in his 80s passed away after contracting COVID-19. None of the men were residents of long term care or retirement facilities.
Among the newly reported cases, 37 are related to an outbreak, 12 are close contacts of a confirmed case, two are healthcare workers employed in Michigan and one case is community-acquired. The remaining cases are still under investigation by health unit staff.
Since March, there have been 6,073 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the virus has contributed to the deaths of 102 people in the region.
The health unit is monitoring 33 outbreaks throughout the community. There is an outbreak at 14 long-term care or retirement homes, 11 workplaces, three community facilities, two schools, and three hospital units.
There are currently 1,186 active cases in the community.
