Charges laid after stolen vehicle involved in collisions

A Windsor man is facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing a car and getting into multiple accidents while intoxicated.

The Windsor Police Service was first called to a business on California Avenue on Sunday around 8:30 p.m. for a man being disorderly.

When police arrived, witnesses reported the man got into a vehicle that was left running with passengers inside. The passengers safely exited the vehicle and the man took off in the car.

Police then saw the car around Wyandotte Street and Devonshire Road collide with another vehicle. The driver again left the scene. No injuries were reported from this collision.

A short time after, officers attended another collision involving the suspect vehicle on Wyandotte Street East near Pilette Road. Again the suspect took off before police could stop the driver. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after this collision.

Investigators were later able to identify a suspect who was arrested a short time later. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.

Jesse Homenick, 41, was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, uttering threats, robbery, dangerous driving, failing to remain at an accident, impaired driving, failing to comply with a release order, and failing to stop for police.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
