Another three COVID-19 deaths in Windsor-Essex

Three residents of a long-term care home in the Windsor-Essex region have died because of COVID-19. 

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a man in his 90s have passed away due to the virus. The community has lost a total of 94 people, 59 of them residents of long-term care homes. 

On Thursday, an additional 191 cases were reported for the region. Among the new cases, 32 are linked to one of the 27 local outbreaks, 20 are close contacts of a confirmed case, and four are community-acquired.  The Health Unit continues to investigate 103 of the new cases.  

There are now 952 active cases of COVID-19 in the community. 

Local hospitals are treating 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Another 82 are in Windsor hospitals who are believed to have the virus.

Meanwhile, the province broke a record for the third time this week.  Public Health Ontario reported 2,432 new cases and 23 deaths.
