Another Windsor-Essex community has taken the step to close its offices due to a surge of COVID-19 cases.
The Town of Kingsville announced that starting Monday, its town hall will be closed to all except staff and those with appointments only.
Visitors with appointments will be expected to complete a COVID-19 assessment and wear a face covering at all times while on the premises.
Mayor Nelson Santos said the second wave of the pandemic has made the move necessary to protect visitors, as well as town employees.
"It’s important that we take these additional actions now to help stop the spread of the virus in our community," said Santos.
Visitors are encouraged to conduct business via telephone and email, and there is 24-hour access to many self-serve options through the town's official website. Residents who are submitting physical documents can use the drop box at the town hall or mail the package.
Kingsville is the second local municipality to close its offices to walk-in traffic. Amherstburg made the move last Tuesday, offering drop-off services.
