University of Windsor professor named to the Order of Canada

A University of Windsor engineering professor joins an exclusive cohort of Canadians, those who have been named a member of the Order of Canada.

Doctor Hoda ElMaraghy is being recognized for her contributions to the field of mechanical engineering, and especially for her work in advancing manufacturing systems.

ElMaraghy is the director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Centre.

She is one of 114 people appointed by Governor General Julie Payette and will receive her insignia in Ottawa.

This year, 84 Members of the Order of Canada have been recognized, along with 21 Officers, eight Companions, and one Honorary Member.

The Order of Canada was created in 1967. Since then, more than 7,000 people from all sectors of society have received the snowflake insignia.
