The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported a spike of 21 new COVID-19 cases in the region.
Among the new cases are 10 workers from the agricultural sector, two healthcare workers, one resident of a long-term care home, and one close contact of a confirmed case. Six cases are still under investigation.
The health unit has not declared an outbreak at any workplace as a result of the recent cases. There are currently four long-term care and retirement homes experiencing an outbreak.
A student residence at the University of Windsor is also experiencing an outbreak after five students there tested positive for COVID-19.
While there have been a number of cases at local schools over the last week, there have been no outbreaks linked to these cases.
There are 111 active cases in the community.
Ontario hit another record high Wednesday with 1,426 new cases identified out of 36,707 tests completed. There were another 15 deaths in the province due to COVID-19.
Of the 1,426 positive cases, 468 were in Peel, 384 were in Toronto and 180 were in York.
