The Medical Officer of Health fears the average number of daily reported COVID-19 cases is increasing.
Windsor Essex remains at the medium risk level.
"For the most part we are getting single digit cases, less than five cases or close to five cases," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed. "What is concerning, is a gradual increase of our overall average."
On Friday, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 15 new cases of the virus in the community.
Among those, three are related to travel, Another seven are people who had close contact with a previously confirmed case, while three were acquired in the community, and one is a health care worker. One case remains under investigation.
There are now 70 active cases in the community, and three people in the hospital.
With the region at orange on the local pandemic indicator, the health unit recommends limiting close contacts to those in your household.
"This will help to contain some of the ongoing transmission that we are seeing right now. We are seeing that some of these events are still happening, some of these socializations are happening, resulting in cases identified as a result of those events," said Dr. Ahmed.
Ontario reported 1,003 new cases across the province out of nearly 41,300 tests completed. There were 300 new cases in Toronto, 280 in Peel and 125 in York Region.
