The Town of Essex is welcoming user groups back to the Libro Credit Union Rink at the Essex Centre Sports Complex although repairs there continue.
Earlier this year, staff discovered heaving issues on some parts of the rink, so the soil was tested and an engineering report identified the needed repairs. The work began in August and is not expected to impact use by user groups.
Right now, the rink remains closed to other users, but the town will re-evaluate that decision once the repairs are complete.
"We continue to work closely with our user groups to ensure our facilities can be used safely," said Deputy CAO and Director of Community Services Doug Sweet.
All visitors will undergo COVID-19 screening and will be asked to follow guidelines, which are available online.
The town has also published a video explaining protocols.
