After weeks of going back and forth, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has reached a tentative deal with the union that represents its custodians and maintenance workers.
It agreed to a deal with Unifor Local 2458 Thursday night.
"This is a fair agreement for both the board and our employees," said Director of Education Terry Lyons. "It's a fiscally responsible contract that acknowledges the current circumstances in which we are operating, but also the contributions of these valued workers."
The contract will cover 170 workers.
"It includes some important improvements for our members, and we will be endorsing it when we bring it to them for ratification," said bargaining unit Chair Rick Nadin.
The deal still has to be ratified.
The union will announce the date of the ratification vote soon, while board trustees are expected to pass it at their next meeting on October 29.
