The medical officer of health is urging residents and businesses to take precautions to prevent the second wave from hitting the region.
"If we take measures, or do things after the fact that we start to see a surge in cases in our community, it's already too late. So, the time to act is now, and I think it is critically important for all the businesses in the region to look at the policies and procedures, and see how they can improve," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed.
On Thursday, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported only one new COVID-19 case in the region. It was related to travel outside of North America.
There are currently 44 active cases being monitored by the health unit.
One person is in hospital being treated.
"The numbers that we are seeing in our region is much, much better than anywhere else in the province, so we should take this opportunity and act on it, by keeping those numbers down," said Dr. Ahmed.
The province reported 538 new cases of COVID19, with 39,600 tests completed.
