Three cases of COVID-19 locally, as province hits new record

For the 15th straight day, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said new COVID-19 cases were in the single-digits Monday.

CEO Theresa Marentette reported three new cases, all of which are currently under investigation.

The number of active cases in the community continues to decline as well. As of Monday morning, there were 66 active cases, four of which were in the hospital.

The total caseload is now 2,652, but 94.6 per cent of those are considered resolved.

Across the province, cases continued to spike Monday with 700 new ones. That tops a record set on April 26 at the height of the pandemic when Ontario had 640 caess.

The total caseload is now 50,531. Of those, 4,564 are active. Ontario also reported one more death province-wide for a total of 2,840 fatalities.
