Review prevention protocols before opening workplaces

As more employers welcome their employees back into the workplace, the Windsor-Essex medical officer of health is urging everyone to take responsibility for preventing outbreaks.

"The task on hand is huge, and we all have to take ownership of our own responsibilities and do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has many resources on its website to help businesses establish protocols for outbreak prevention.

"In many settings, once the case starts to spread it is very difficult and takes much more effort to contain it and some individuals end up in hospital or worse," said Dr. Ahmed.

On Monday morning, the health unit reported an additional four cases of COVID-19 in the region. All four cases were as a result of close contact with a confirmed case. There are now 91 active cases in the community.
