A 53-year-old man is facing numerous charges after a series of break-and-enters south of Windsor's downtown.
Windsor police officers responded to a call on Victoria Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Labour Day Monday, to take a report on a break-in that had just happened. The resident said a suspect entered the home while the residents were there, and had a verbal interaction with the occupants before running away.
With the help of witnesses at the scene, a suspect was apprehended quickly, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.
The investigation also found that several other homes, all on Victoria Avenue between Shepherd Street West and Hanna Street West, were also broken into. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
Gordon Smith of Windsor has been charged with three counts of break-and-enter, two counts of attempted break-and-enter, two counts of mischief, and one count each of robbery and possession of stolen property under $5,000. These charges have not been proven in court.
Windsor police credit the immediate report to 911 with the quick arrest of a suspect.
