Pair sought in Amherstburg firearms incident

The Windsor police Amherstburg detachment is looking for two people suspected of firing a gun early Tuesday morning.

Officers were called around 4 a.m. to the area of Simcoe Street and Fryer Street. It was determined that two men were seen running away from a vehicle parked in a driveway. The vehicle's interior was disturbed but nothing was taken, and the garage door was also open.

The men were found walking along Simcoe Street and confronted by a citizen, according to Constable Talya Natyshak. Both men appeared to be holding firearms. One was then reportedly discharged, making a loud noise. The two men then ran from the area.

Both suspects are described as white males, 18 to 20 years old, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, with medium builds. The first man also had a dark goatee, facial hair, and was wearing a black hoodie. The second man was described as having light hair and was wearing a grey hoodie.

The investigation also uncovered several other attempted vehicle entries in the neighbourhood, roughly between 3 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, though it was not disclosed if anything was stolen.

Residents are being asked to check their vehicles to see if anything is missing and check any video surveillance systems for suspicious activity during that time frame. People have also been asked not to leave garage doors or vehicles unlocked.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor police Amherstburg detachment at (519) 736-2252, ext. 226 or 230. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
