Injured bicyclist identified as 80-year-old Lakeshore man

The Ontario Provincial Police have identified an elderly bicyclist who was seriously injured in a crash this week.

It happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday on Ross Beach Road, off Strong Road in Lakeshore. Two cyclists were using the bike path when they collided, according to Constable Jim Root.

One of the riders suffered minor injuries, but the other was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The OPP had tweeted out photos of the man's bicycle, helmet, and accessories with the hope of identifying him, and the agency announced late Wednesday afternoon that they had done so.

The 80-year-old, who lives in Lakeshore, remains in hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. His name is not being released.

The OPP would like to thank the public for its help in identifying the cyclist.

Additional details on this incident will be passed along as they become available.
