Months after Windsor City Council gave the initiative its blessing, the WindsorEats' outdoor food hall will open this weekend at Lanspeary Park on Ottawa Street.
City council approved it back in May, and now that the region is in stage three and outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people are permitted, the food hall will open on Friday.
The food hall is at the rink in the park, and this weekend's vendors include Tropical Hut Philippine Cuisine, Road Chef, BZB Test Kitchen, Rico Taco, and Robbie's Gourmet Sausage Co.
Most of those vendors do not have an outdoor patio. They are often found at events and festivals across Windsor-Essex, but most of those were cancelled this year because of the pandemic.
The tables at the food hall will be distanced and patrons can make their orders online. Patrons can order for dine-in or takeout.
Local beers and wines will be available too.
If the food hall proves to be a success, it could be extended to other weekends. New vendors will be introduced each week so more businesses can participate.
The hours of operation on Fridays are from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays, and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
