Another COVID-19 exposure alert issued

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has issued another COVID-19 exposure alert for two local businesses.

Another individual who worked out at Xanadu Gym has tested positive for COVID-19. This person visited the gym on August 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 30. This is the second alert issued for this location. However, according to a post on the Xanadu Gym Facebook page, the health unit has informed gym management the virus was contracted elsewhere.  According to the Facebook post, the gym will be closed for two weeks.

"We have decided to place the facility into self-quarantine for two weeks in the interest of public safety," the gym said in the post. "We will be closed September 1, 2020, effective immediately until September 15, 2020."

Another alert has been issued for Xaco Taco on Cabana Road. A person who tested positive for the virus visited the location on August 24 and 25.

The potential exposures are considered to be low risk. Anyone who visited these sites on the specified dates is asked to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment online and monitor symptoms closely.  All alerts issued by the health unit can be found on their webpage.

The health unit has issued six other exposure alerts for six establishments since Friday.
