Man charged with theft

Windsor police officers arrested a man accused of stealing from a vehicle.

Officers were called to Rankin Avenue around 10 a.m. Thursday for a report of property damage. When they arrived they found a vehicle with a damaged window. Officers were told a man broke the window and took several items from inside the car, including bank cards. The man then took off on a bicycle before police arrived.

The man was later discovered using the stolen bank cards at locations within the city.  He was seen in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Campbell Avenue. Police caught up with the man on Josephine Avenue where he was arrested. The bank cards and other items related to the theft were found on the man.

Donald Meloche, 50, of Windsor is charged with mischief, theft, using a credit card obtained by crime, fraud, and possession of stolen property. None of the charges have been proven in court.
