Local English boards staggering school start

Both Windsor-Essex English language school boards will take a staggered approach to the start of the school year.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has decided to stagger elementary student start times. Start dates for students in SK to Grade 8 will be staggered from September 8 until September 11. Junior Kindergarten students will have staggered start dates between September 14 and 18.

Secondary school students will start school on September 8.

The full schedule can be found on the board's updated back to school plan available on its website.

The Greater Essex County District School Board has also released an updated plan that includes staggered start dates.

Some students will start on September 8 with all students Grade 1 through Grade 12 back to school by September 11. Junior and Senior Kindergarten students will start on Monday, September 14.  Visit the school board's website for a full schedule.

The board held a special meeting on Wednesday afternoon and answered many questions surrounding its plan for online learning including sample schedules for different grade levels. The meeting can be found on the board's YouTube channel here.

Parents have until Friday, August 21, 2020, to decide if their children will be enrolled in-class or online for the school year.
