Community cases on the rise

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the region.

Among the confirmed cases are 14 community cases, eight agricultural workers, one health care worker, and four cases under investigation.

To date, the region has had 2,044 confirmed cases with 1,314 recoveries. There are currently 15 people admitted to hospital with complications due to COVID-19.

"There could be many reasons for people to be hospitalized and end up in ICU so we definitely are concerned about that and we want to make sure people aren't losing their guard. They should continue to practice all of the public health measures," said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed.

Over 50 per cent of cases in the community involve those aged 20-39. Dr. Ahmed said some of these cases are ending up in the hospital.
