A boil water advisory has been issued for an area of Leamington.
Dr. Wajid Ahmed, the medical officer of health for Windsor-Essex, issued the advisory Tuesday evening. The customers affected are serviced by the Union Water System and live on the north and south side of Mersea Road 10 between Highway 77 and Kent Road 1. This includes Mersea Road 12 (addresses 958 to 1018) and Kent Road 1 (addresses 949 to 1019).
The advisory was issued in response to an adverse water sample and possible contamination of the water supply.
Around 50 households are affected by the advisory and the Union Water System will be hand-delivering notices to each one.
There have been no illnesses have been reported.
Anyone in the affected area is asked to only consume bottled water or water brought to a hard boil for one minute.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
