OPP investigate Leamington shooting

Provincial police are investigating after an early morning shooting in Leamington.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of an altercation at a residence on Robinson Street.

When they arrived at the scene, police located a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as being a female with brown skin, between the ages of 20 and 25 years old with a medium build. She was last seen wearing eyeglasses, black pants and a dark shirt with her hair tied back in a ponytail.

Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to not approach her and instead call 9-1-1. Anyone with further information regarding the incident is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

The OPP Essex County Crime Unit is currently investigating the incident and more information is expected to be released when it becomes available.
