The City of Windsor is opening a temporary cooling centre in light of the heat warning issued by Environment Canada.
The atrium of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre is now open for people needing to escape the heat.
Table and chairs will be set up to ensure physical distancing takes place and city staff will be on hand. People are also asked to wear a mask if they have one and only use the cooling centre if they have no other options.
The centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until at least Monday when the heat is expected to subside.
The City of Windsor is also operating a day program for people experiencing homelessness in the community at Windsor Water World. It is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
