As most of Windsor-Essex moves into Stage 2 of re-opening, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting four new cases of COVID-19.
Of the new cases, one is linked to the agri-farm sector and three are community cases.
There are currently outbreaks at six agricultural businesses in Leamington and Kingsville.
"Looking at the number that we had, in the beginning, we had a higher number of farms with active cases. That has gone down to six now with two or more cases. We're hoping that as we continue to do the work of public health and case and contact management outbreak investigation we will be able to immediately act and do all of this that is necessary from a public health perspective to contain it," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health for Windsor-Essex.
Inspections of bunkhouses and other accommodations of migrant farmworkers by the health unit, the Ministry of Labour, and the Public Health Agency of Canada are ongoing.
