The Town of LaSalle has cancelled summer day camps and all programming and rentals for the month of July due to COVID-19.
"For the safety of our staff and participants, we will not be offering day camp this year," said Joe Milicia, CAO. "With directives including physical distancing, increased cleaning standards and the expectations of consistent groups of participants and staff weekly, along with the limited range of activities that would be permitted, this greatly reduces our ability to provide a quality and engaging program."
In lieu of in-person programming, the town will be offering some virtual activity sessions for children. The recreation department is offering virtual games, activities, stories, science and songs.
"During the current pandemic, like many other sectors, the recreation sector has had to shift from traditional methods and find other ways to provide our services to the community. Recreation can provide essential supports for people to manage stress, cope with challenges, and reconnect with their communities. Offering virtual programming allows staff to maintain relationships with our members and program participants," said Patti Funaro, Recreation Manager.
Parents can register their children on the Town of LaSalle website.
July events like Food Truck Friday and the LaSalle Night Market have also been cancelled.
The Public Works Department will be removing the cover on the outdoor pool for yearly maintenance but the pool will remain closed to the public for the summer.
