Windsor police officer charged in fraud investigation

A Windsor police officer is facing charges of uttering forged documents.

Police launched an investigation after a pharmacy in the city issued a fraud complaint involving prescription medication.

Investigators identified the suspect as a member of the Windsor Police Service. They said there is evidence of two crimes happening on two separate occasions. The suspect officer was off-duty during each alleged incident.

On Thursday, Issam Salame, a constable with 13 years on the service, was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering forged documents.

The officer was on leave from active duty at the time of the incidents.

He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
