There are new wayfinding posts on the Little River Trail to help emergency crews find people on the trail.
The trail winds its way through 6.25 km of natural green space that can sometimes be difficult to navigate. To make the trail safer, 17 global positioning system signs, 13 wayfinding signs, and 12 kiosks have been installed along the trail. The installation of the signs was paid for by local firms Team Goran of RE/MAX Realty, Parker DKI, and CPC Processing Centre.
“Windsor has made major strides in our trails system right across the city,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “From widening trails in Jackson Park to the work that’s been done on our exceptional Riverfront, from the off-road trails in Malden Park to this new wayfinding signage here in Little River, it really is incredible. And having three local companies step up to help cover the costs associated with these signs and include their names next to ours shows the support for our community.”
In case of an emergency, providing the North and West coordinates found on the GPS signs can give first responders the directions they need to get on the scene quickly.
