If you have signed up for Windsor Alerts, expect your phone to go off around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.
The emergency notification system alerts subscribers if there is a flood, large fires, tornados or some other emergency nearby. The warning will be broadcast through your email account, on your cell phone by text message or by voice message, by a call to your home phone, on the Everbridge Mobile Member App, and TTY device.
If you have not signed up yet, the City of Windsor and Windsor Fire and Rescue Services encourages you to do so.
Signing up online is free at www.windsoralerts.ca.
New subscribers will need to provide their cell phone number, email address, home address, and home phone number if you have one.
The alerts are geographically targeted and will be sent to affected areas.
Even those who do not live in the city, but work there can sign up by using their work address.
