UPDATE: Police suspect stabbing death connected to earlier collision

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed to death Tuesday night in downtown Windsor, and officers believe there is a connection to a crash on Josephine Avenue earlier in the evening.

Around 8:20 p.m., officers on patrol were called to investigate a crash on Josephine Avenue near College Avenue. A red Dodge Magnum, a grey Volkswagen, and two parked vehicles collided.

That sparked an argument involving several people, but the group later dispersed.

An hour later, officers found a man suffering from stab wounds on McDougall Street between City Hall Square and University Avenue East. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Then, they found a second man. This victim was dead.  He had also been stabbed.

The Major Crime Branch is investigating the connection between the stabbings and the crash and ask anyone who may have information to call 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477. Tips can also be left online at www.catchcrooks.com.

The investigation shut down McDougall Street from Wyandotte Street East to University Avenue East and City Hall Square west of Windsor Avenue. As of noon Wednesday, those streets remain closed.

This is Windsor's third homicide this year.
