The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario will hold a disciplinary hearing Friday for a Toronto neurosurgeon convicted of killing his wife when she demanded a divorce.
Dr. Elana Fric Shamji, originally from Tecumseh, was murdered in 2016, two days after she filed for the divorce. She was 40.
Her husband, Dr. Mohammad Shamji, was sentenced to 14 years in prison with no chance of parole for her death.
The hearing Friday in Toronto centres around Mohammad's alleged failure to disclose a domestic abuse charge in Ottawa in 2005 when he applied for a license to practice independently in 2012.
He has already been found guilty of an offence "that is relevant to his suitability to practice," read the notice of hearing.
Elana left behind three children.
