Grenade closes of section of EC Row

A grenade found in a ditch off of Rhodes Drive closed a portion of the EC Row Express for three hours Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the area around noon when a resident reported the grenade.

The Windsor police officers established a perimeter around Rhodes Drive and closed the EC Row in both directions between Lauzon Parkway and Central Avenue.

Officers from the Windsor Police Explosive Disposal Unit attended the scene and were able to declare the grenade safe around 3 pm.

It's believed the grenade may have been there for some time. The incident remains under investigation.
