Windsor's unemployment rate jumped upwards last month as 2,900 more people searched for work.
Statistics Canada's Labour Market Survey, taken between January 12 and January 18, shows a jobless rate of 8.3 per cent, up from 7.6 per cent the month before.
The unemployment rate was adjusted slightly upwards for December after the last report was released. Previously, it said the rate for the last month of 2019 was 7.5 per cent.
The Labour Participation rate fell slightly, down 0.1 percentage points from December in January while the employment rate fell 0.6 points to 55.5 per cent last month.
Ontario's jobless rate ticked up a tenth of a percentage point to 5.3 per cent.
The national economy, on the whole, added another 35,500 net jobs, mostly full-time. That pushed the national rate down 0.1 percentage point to 5.5 per cent.
The goods-producing sector added about 49,000 jobs, while jobs in healthcare and social assistance sectors fell by approximately 16,000 positions.
Since last January, the Canadian economy has added a net of 268,000 jobs, while the number of hours worked rose 0.5 per cent.
