The Windsor Essex Children's Aid Society is warning the public after people have been falsely soliciting funds on its behalf.
The society says it has been made aware of people canvassing door-to-door in Windsor and Kingsville claiming to be from the foundation.
“We caution the public to be aware of anyone coming to their door, asking for donations to the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation. This is not how the Foundation carries out its fundraising practices. Please report any such activity to your local police service,” said Mike Clark Manager of Public Relations with the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society.
Clark says they have never had a door-to-door campaign and this is not how they are raising funds for their annual holiday program.
If you would like to make a donation to a family in need you may do so by contacting 519-252-1171, ext. 3360 or by accessing the WECAF website at www.wecaf.on.ca.
