Mobile clinic delivering health care

The Windsor Essex Community Health Centre now has a clinic on wheels.

As part of the organization's 10-year anniversary celebrations, the mobile unit was introduced as a way to serve patients when and where they need it.

"Our vision is just to reach out to people who have barriers to accessing care. Many people are housebound, many people in our downtown core are homeless or near homeless and many of them don't go to traditional health care organizations," said Executive Director Rita Taillefer

The mobile unit is within a 38-foot bus. It includes a private consultation room as well as a fully equipped clinical examination room.

Currently, the mobile unit will be parked in downtown Windsor once a week but the community health centre plans to expand the service as service areas are identified.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
