The City of Windsor has received the latest installment of its ongoing share of gambling revenues from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG).
For being the host city for Caesars Windsor, the city received a cheque from the OLG for $2,396,121 for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2019-2020. This payment covers July 1 to September 30 of this year.
According to the OLG, these payments are made under an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which determines the money municipalities receive for hosting a gaming facility.
"Revenues generated at local gaming sites directly contribute to a better quality of life for Ontarians," said Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips. "Projects to improve local infrastructure like roads and public transit, as well as community programs and services, all benefit from OLG’s tremendous partnerships with host municipalities."
Caesars Windsor has been operational since May 1994. Since then, southwestern Ontario's largest hotel and entertainment complex has generated $63.8 million in non-tax gaming revenue for the city of Windsor.
OLG oversees the lottery and casino operations for the province. For the 2018-2019 fiscal year, OLG provided $2.47 billion in non-tax revenue to the Ontario government.
