Windsor unemployment increases slightly

The unemployment rate increased slightly in Windsor last month.

Statistics Canada reports the unemployment rate in September was 6.2 per cent, up 0.2 percentage points from August.

While the regional unemployment rate increased, both provincial and national unemployment rates went down.

In Ontario, 41,000 more people are working leading to a 0.3 percentage point decrease in the unemployment rate. The provincial unemployment rate now sits at 5.3 per cent.

The national unemployment rate is 5.5 per cent. According to Statistics Canada, employment rose by 54,000 in September with most of the gains in full-time employment.
